Robert Paquette joined the National Film Board as director of human resources, effective January 19. He was most recently the director of human resources for the Port of Montreal. Charles Bird has been named VP of government affairs at Bell Globemedia, effective February 2. He will be based in Ottawa. Until recently, Bird was a senior consultant at Earnscliffe Strategy Group. Prior to joining Earnscliffe in February 2000, he was policy advisor to Ralph Goodale, who was minister of Natural Resources (1997-2000) and minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (1993-1997). Guy Mayson has officially been appointed as the president and CEO of the Canadian Film and Television Production Association. He has been acting in the position since September 2003, when former association head Elizabeth McDonald resigned. Previously, Mayson was executive VP at the CFTPA, directing its film policy and tax agendas. He joined the CFTPA in 1997, after working in the public service.
